Seven Cases of Struma Ovarli

|
Authors reported 7 cases of struma ovarii collected among 167 ovarial teratoma. Some author states that struma ovarii may occur at all age. In our cases, the oldest one is 59 and the youngest one is 19 years old. The average age at operation was 39 years old. As a whole, the masses measured hen´s egg or adult fist in size and cystic in nature with multiple chambers. Four out of 7 cases showed pure teratoid thyroid tissue and remainder showed dermoid cyst with prominent teratoid thyroid tissue. One of the case revealed dermoid cyst in the other side of the ovary and one of another cases showed pseudomucinous cyst. Neither malignant change nor metastasis is seen, and no thyrotoxic symptom is encountered in our series.
